Xbench is useful not only for comparing the relative speeds of two different Macintoshes, but also for optimizing performance on a single machine. Xbench is accompanied by a website that allows graphical side-by-side comparison of any out of thousands of submitted benchmarks.
What's New:
1.3
· Corrected a mistake that caused the altivec test to be turned off on PowerPC machines
· Turned off coalesced graphics updates for all platforms on Mac OS 10.4.4 and higher
· Switched compiler to GCC 4.0 on PowerPC. This provides some boost to floating point and AltiVec scores, and these have been recalibrated accordingly. This also raises Xbench's system requirements to 10.3.9 or higher.
· Revised machine database to include the MacBook, Intel iMac and several other models
· Added code to dynamically load machine database on launch from the Xbench website
· Added support for temporarily turning off beam sync on Tiger while running graphics tests
· Fixed an issue that causes Xbench to fail to launch on Leopard
· Built with Xcode 2.4.
1.2
* Built as a Universal Binary to run on both PowerPC and x86 Macs
* Re-calibrated 100 point baseline to a 2.0 GHz G5 running Tiger
* Altered graphics code to flush only every 1/60th of a second, in order to cooperate with Tiger beam syncing
* Built Intel code on GCC 4.0, PowerPC remains on GCC 3.3 for 10.3 compatibility

TxBENCH: Benchmark software for storage
This benchmark software measures storage performances for SSD, HDD and other drives.
It not only measures the performance of storage easily but also performs detailed speed measurements based on specified access patterns and long-period speed measurements. It also allows you to see each drive's supported features, enabled features, and S.M.A.R.T. information.

Main Features
- Measures storage performances
TxBENCH has both [Basic Benchmark] and [Advanced Benchmark] functions. [Basic Benchmark] allows you to easily measure storage performance. [Advanced Benchmark] allows you to measure storage performance with specified configurations. This software is the only software that measures storage performance using various methods. - Measurement mode
TxBENCH supports [FILE mode] and [RAW mode]. In [FILE mode], it creates a measurement file on the file system. In [RAW mode], it writes data directly on the drive's sectors. [FILE mode] and [RAW mode] are automatically selected depending to the state of the target drive. - Measurement nearer to actual environment
In [Advanced Benchmark], you can register 8 tasks, and configure various access settings (the Read/Write/Seek method, the Transmission size, the Alignment size, and Writing data). Depending the specified conditions, you can issue the FLUSH CACHE command, which force writes data in the cache, and TRIM (DATA SET MANAGEMENT) command only for SSD. These features enable you to measure performance nearer to the actual environment. - Saving measurement results
Measurement results can be saved as CSV files. You can specify update frequency of the result under [Advanced benchmark]. - Secure Erase function
This function erases data (excluding the OS startup) from the drive. In the case of a SSD, it erases the data and easily reverts the SSD to its default state at the time of shipment. - Detailed drive information
This function displays various drive information, such as supported features, enabled features, and S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology). This information can be saved as a CSV file.
